SERVICES FOR THE COURTS
Dr. Rappaport is available to conduct independent custody evaluations and psychological evaluations for courts in both civil and criminal cases. Dr. Rappaport is able to address general questions regarding custody and parenting time and address specific issues that arise in custody evaluations such as alienation, high-conflict parents, interpersonal/domestic violence, relocation, special needs children, and numerous other issues. In conducting psychological evaluations, Dr. Rappaport can assess both parents as well as children. Dr. Rappaport can also provide independent evaluations of adolescents and adults for court, including, but not limited to Competency to Stand Trial Evaluations, Mental State at Time of Offensive evaluations, and Downward Departure evaluations.
Dr. Rappaport is available to speak to judicial systems on a variety of topics as a part of their ongoing educational requirements. Topics that Dr. Rappaport has previously presented include alienation, judicial decision making, relocation, understanding and/or cross-examining psychological testing, interpersonal/domestic violence, deconstructing child custody evaluations, family court issues when children have special needs, and the impact of mental disorders in custody evaluations.
SERVICES FOR ATTORNEYS - EVALUATIONS
Dr. Rappaport can conduct child custody evaluations to address both custody and parenting time. Dr. Rappaport can conduct child custody evaluations that involve a variety of specialized issues including, but not limited to alienation, relocation, high-conflict parents, special needs children, and parents with mental illness.
Dr. Rappaport can conduct psychological evaluations of children and adults.
SERVICES FOR ATTORNEYS - WORK PRODUCT REVIEW/LITIGATION SUPPORT
Dr. Rappaport is able to review child custody evaluations and the underlying data and provide guidance to attorneys as a litigation support consultant. In this role Dr. Rappaport can assist attorneys in understanding the strengths and weaknesses of an evaluation and assist as needed in trial preparation, including preparation for depositions and trial cross-examination questions.
Dr. Rappaport can testify regarding strengths and weaknesses of a child custody evaluation, including problems with methodology and interpretation of psychological test data.
Dr. Rappaport can also work with attorneys to write questions for both direct and cross-examination of witnesses. At times this includes being at trial as a consultant to provide immediate guidance during direct and cross-examination.
Dr. Rappaport can expertly testify in court with specialized knowledge as an aid to the court. Topics can include proper procedures in conducting child custody evaluations, proper interpretation of psychological testing as well as issues related to alienation, relocation, grandparent involvement, high conflict in parents, overnights for young children and a variety of other topics.
SERVICES FOR SCHOOLS
Dr. Rappaport can provide violence/risk assessments for students who make threats to harm others.
Dr. Rappaport can consult to schools for program development for children with special needs.
